Melissa Auf der Maur after her talk at Nat Geo last night. The former Smashing Pumpkins/Hole bassist was presenting her photography and a recent short film Out of Our Minds she co-produced. OOOM is a 28-minute, conceptual fusion of music and imagery (no dialogue), telling a very loose, time-tripping, three-tier, ‘story’ involving Vikings, bleeding trees, and a beige Taurus with a date with destiny. I know, sounds like a bad student film. It could’ve gone horribly wrong in a million ways but was actually pretty intense and engaging.
